A Special House, A Special Wish

Today, I’m sharing a photo I took last night of a home located in Portsmouth, about 45 minutes from us.

I first became aware of this house about 40 years ago. Having never known the homeowners, I can’t say whether or not the same people have owned it all these years. But I do know that it’s been decorated in a similar fashion since, at least, 1971.

Although I plan to publish posts both tomorrow and on Christmas Day, I realize that many of you will be busy with holiday activities, and won’t have a chance to stop by for a visit.

So, from my family to yours: a very Merry Christmas!

  1. That is just beautiful! The PERFECT way to decorate with lights. So many places where you see lots of lights, they go ‘overborad’ with the add ons, in my opinion. But this place is just lovely! I’ll be by over the weekend, for sure! But Merry Christmas right back to you!

  2. It looks like a Candycane Christmas, like something out of a child’s storybook.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

    Merry Christmas!! MJ

  3. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Dianna…

  4. Beautifully done and festive! I won’t be missing your Christmas Eve or Christmas post but I would love to send you Merry Christmas Wishes from our house to yours Dianna!

  5. Oh that house looks just perfect! I agree with emjayandthem that it looks like a little storybook house and rather magical. It’s nice they can decorate with so many lights and things without getting into the “tacky” department!

  11. I know this house! I have also seen it many times, and had forgotten how much I used to love seeing it! Thanks for reminding me, and for sharing your gorgeous photos. I am glad I “found” your blog! Merry Christmas, Dianna, to you and yours. Hope to see you in the new year.

  28. Hi: I’m not sure when you will see my comment, but, I wanted to ask if I could get permission to use this photo, https://thesedaysofmine.com/2011/12/23/a-special-house-a-special-wish/, for a new Christmas DVD website. http://www.outrageous-media.com/christmas.html, where I need to do a house photo with our various DVD images inside the windows. Your photo is the right kind of framing for us to be able to photoshop Santa and others inside the windows. Id’ be willing to swap you any of our Christmas DVDs in exchange for permission if that would be desired. Thanks, Jon Hyers

  29. Sorry, Jon Hyers again, I forgot to tick for the email that you replied, my own email is jon.hyers@comcast.net
