Motor Man has become so good at spotting barns, I think maybe I should turn over Tuesday’s Barn Charm posts to him.
He spotted this oldie on Saturday as we were heading toward “our weekend destination” (if I tell, it will spoil tomorrow’s surprise), but he didn’t mention it to me. Sunday, as we were returning from said destination, he remembered the location. He told me we were coming up on an old barn, and stopped for me to take pictures.
His words as we came to a stop? “There won’t be many more pictures taken of this one”.
Now, as to the unevenness of that door: is it a result of the aging building….or, was the builder not too handy with a level?

I think it is rather attractive in a ramshackle sort of way :))
There is something special about a barn, and I have always been drawn to those that look abandoned, unless, of course, they are still in someone’s yard! This one looks like it was once a great barn…but you do wonder about the slanting door? Great shots!
I think if it had been built out of level it wouldn’t have lasted this long. It certainly has oodles of character.
My goodnesss…..that old place is literally on its’ last legs (or boards)…but it has a VERY distinct personality. Still hangin’ on! Kudos to Motor Man for remembering to stop for it on the way back from your getaway weekend!

That looks like a lot of barns in our area. I sometimes see old unkept barns and it makes me sad. They are such beautiful buildings to be neglected so badly. I bet this barn has an awesome story behind it.
lovely barn. wonder why barns go down hill. makes you wonder what happened to the folks who own it? (:
I’m glad Motor Man spied it and glad you photographed Dianna. It deserves some love and it will surely get it with Barn Charm! Seriously, I almost want to hug it 🙂 It’s sitting there a little disheveled but it is charming! Love the second shot where the not so straight door is framed by the tree limbs!!
I just love old barns and this one is particularly delightful. I always try to imagine what animals resided there and what families lived on the acreage before. There is so much history there!
Your hubs has a good eye! This barn is so rustic, but makes me wonder how much longer it will be standing!
This is a real beauty!
It is an old farm charmer. I wonder if it works any more. One can scarcely make out some things inside it.
I like old Barns , old stores .I have photo albums of this stuff! The
old buildings each have thier own character.
i believe he’s right. the roof line looks like our aging bodies… sagging and drooping and a bit achy…
When I see a place like that, my mind always tries to imagine what it was like in its day and who the people were who spent their days there. I just love old stuff.
Great barn and wonderful photos! The last one would make a great painting! Do I have your permission?
love all the shade trees around it!
That fellow is a treasure! Doesn’t look like a barn one would want to be inside, but full of character.
I bet it was a nice barn in its day; wouldn’t want to go too far inside without knowing if it was safe or not.
Love it!! The land is going to claim it soon, but there’s just something about it… it’s had a long (and probably very hard-working) life …
It looks as bad, or worse than I feel. haha
I love old barns and this one is certainly still has charm! I’m glad Motor Man spotted this one for you to shoot!
Oooh, that was is such a gem! And Motor Man is right…probably won’t make it too much longer. Just love the old charm.
Poor old thing, she’s drooping and sagging all over. It does look this lovely old barn won’t be there much longer. What a wonderful find and very sweet of Motor Man to surprise you with it!
Oh, the stories that old barn could tell!
There’s a certain sadness in seeing a barn worn and waning, knowing it’s days of glory are passed.
MM is awesome for pointing out barns and such fun stuff for you to share. He’s a peach for sure. 🙂
These old guys so not give up easily. I have seen them look like this but refuse to throw in the rag and just topple down. In its day, it was a fine one. genie
those men of ours, they are handy aren’t they?!?! it is amazing the stamina of these old barns, this one looks as though the trees on either side may be holding it up!! it is charming, with all it’s sagging, weathered boards!! i am sooooo happy you got so close, you go girl…..is it not exciting?!?!
She’s definitely leaning quite a bit, but it looks like the builder is responsible for that ‘mess up’
Tell your husband, Thank you very much & thank you for keeping Barn Charm in mind while out driving the countryside!!! =)
Even the barn appears to be struggling to survive. We need to send it a life line! I bet it was truly nice in its day.
Nice shots.
