Sunset Sunday

Tuesday evening, Motor Man and I headed across the James River Bridge to run a few errands and have dinner in Newport News. We noticed the sun setting behind us as we crossed the bridge.

So, as we’ll do in situations like this, time permitting, we pulled over at the park on the other side of the river. The sunset wasn’t a spectacular one, but I did manage some interesting shots.

There was a photographer up on the hill to the right. He was serious though: he had his camera on a tripod.

I walked a short distance and took this from near the jetties.

And another day is in the history books.

  1. I love that in the first shot the yellow glow shines up in a v shape from the sun, and you can see that again in the third shot. Great capture with the hill, fence and silhouetted photog! Jetty rocks and grass on the shoreline are nice too. As always, some of my favorite photos of my week!

  2. Beautiful, as always! Were you at Huntington? We launch our boat from there sometimes to get into the James. Hadn’t thought of traveling there to view the sunset on the James…we are always looking for places to find sunsets on the water! Have a great day!

  3. Sooooooo peaceful and lovely. Were it not for the bare trees, it could be ANY time of year really…..”peaceful” is seasonless!

I thought Florida sunsets were fabulous.
These photos showed me there can be
spectacular ones in other locations, too.

  12. Another award winner here … his camera may’ve been on a tripod, but your camera was on a bipod, and these are great !! I like this spot, too, at Huntington …

  13. That’s the perfect sunset vantage point. Great shots.

  14. Don’t worry about the guy with the tripod…maybe he’s just too lazy to hold a camera.

  15. The golden glow of sunset always intrigues me. I would have pulled over for a picture of this one too.
