My first photo of the sunset on Tuesday evening was taken from the James River Bridge as Motor Man and I were returning from Newport News. (Please pardon the power lines.)
Then, as we passed through the village of Rescue, Motor Man stopped at the bridge over Jones Creek, so I could take pictures. The photos I took there that evening have become some of my all-time favorites.
I’ve posted before about the picturesque little village of Rescue. In this next picture, Captain Chuckamucks waterfront restaurant (featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) is on the far right. (Contrary to the information on the Food Network link, Rescue is NOT on the Chesapeake Bay.) If you were to follow Jones Creek to the right and then take a left, you’d pass right by our house on your way into the town of Smithfield.
We hear these workboats chugging out in the river every morning.
Once we arrived home, Motor Man quickly drove down to the point of our property (for more sunset pictures), frightening three geese and causing them to fly off into the water.
Long after sunset, I noticed color still in the sky, and used the night-time camera setting for this last shot of the day.
As a dear friend commented last week, “God paints the most awesome sky”.
