These pictures were taken last month, during the trip Motor Man and I made to Maryland. One evening, as we stopped at a restaurant for dinner, Motor Man spotted this barn across a field. I took this picture with my long lens.
We put dinner “on hold”, got back in our vehicle and headed in that direction. There was an old house near the driveway leading to the barn, but we didn’t see anyone as we ventured closer.
We weren’t sure exactly what construction material was used. It almost looked like some sort of tile.
This was one end of the barn.
And the other end.
And the sign beside that white door?
I’m guessing the flower shop is still in business. From the looks of the door, they must be going for the shabby chic look.
Linking up to Barn Charm.

Definitely a different type of construction material and quite a large barn AND silos. Don’t often see TWO silos. Wonder what the flower shop is like inside??
That is a MOST interesting old barn! It does look like some sort of tile which I imagine would be quite unusual construction material…..hmm….a great “find” when it comes to “different” barn photos though!
Pam (and Sam)
Ohhh, I want to go inside!! I would love to own it….mine would be a shop full of vintage goodies!
I wonder how high the ceiling is, if it’s two story or perhaps just occupies a quarter of the building. The tiles and brick a-r-e unique.
So that’s what that type of “siding” looks like up close. From a distance I always assumed it was brick (or something). Neat!

How interesting! I’d love to see inside!
That does look like some sort of tile. From a distance it looked like brick. If that flower shop is indeed in business, they are definitely going for the shabby chic look. Hope they make a go of it!
ohhhh I was so hoping that you went inside too!
What a great find! I love those tiles. The silos are just beautiful!
it is nice! i REALLY like those silos!
A classic example of stumbling upon something unusual … & I’d have to say they’re definitely still in business .. I like the windows, too …
I’ve never seen anything quite like that! Love the tiles, such a “finished” look. Would love to know the history of this one. And a flower shop, too! Great re-use of the space.
Quite different! I like that it is being used as a flower shop. I hope the owner gets lots of business even though the shop seems to away from civilization.
Oh, this one is fabulous….sure glad you got all these views.
I love this one! There was one I posted from Missouri made from the same type of tile – really unusual but seems to be pretty durable! Great that they are still using it!
I love that barn. So, shabby chic for flower selling it is. Maybe when you’ve got a barn like that, you can get away with it.
Hmmm, that IS a strange looking brick or whatever it is… I’m wondering if it’s a working farm & flower shop combo! It’s great however, because the barn looks to be in pretty good condition! Great find & thanks so much for joining =)
Very interesting old barm, Glad Motor mam spotted it.
I meant Motor M A N!!!!
Love that you got really close for so many neat shots. I love the two silos.
Amazing. I’ve never seen so much tile or masonry work around a barn. That’s interesting. It’s neat you got pictures of it. Well done! 🙂
