Today, as we welcome in 2014, Motor Man also celebrates his birthday.
I’ve shared this with you before, but I think it’s such a special story that I chose to write about it again today. The day Motor Man was born, his dad was en route from boot camp in Texas to New York to ship out on the Queen Mary (in service as a troop ship). He had a day or two leave to visit his family. He arrived home the day after Motor Man was born.
Of course, in those days, new mothers were kept in the hospital several days. But Motor Man’s mom convinced the doctor to let her go home to spend time with her husband and newborn son.
Motor Man’s mom was a beautiful young woman, just eighteen when he was born.
When Pop returned from war, Motor Man was two years old. I’m not sure exactly how old he was in this picture, but check out that dapper little hat!
Happy Birthday, Motor Man.
You grew from an adorable little boy to a wonderful man.
