They’re Back….

A couple of years ago, blog awards were all the rage. Some bloggers don’t care for them (and they can be somewhat of a hassle….trying to decide which bloggers to pass them on to, etc.).  Then, the awards just seemed to disappear from the blogosphere.

But, as with most things, they’re beginning to make the rounds again. Recently, I was nominated for two awards by my dear blogging friend, Sam, and his mom, Pam, co-authors of One Spoiled Cat.

The first, The Blogger Recognition Award,  is a new one for me.

Here are the rules:

  1.  Select up to 25 other blogs to nominate for the award
  2.  Post the award badge on our blog
  3.  Tell a brief story about HOW your blog got started
  4.  Thank the blogger who nominated you and link to their blog
  5.  Contact each of your nominees and let them know you’ve nominated them.

As to how my blog began, back in 2010, I had recently discovered blogs, and thought it might be fun to have one of my own.  I’d always liked English/grammar/literature/spelling in school, and had recently become interested in photography. So it all fell into place with These Days Of Mine.

If any of my blogging friends would like to accept this award, please feel free to do so.

The second award Sam and Pam passed along to me is the One Lovely Blog award, which is one that I already have.

And here are the rules for accepting this award:

1-Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog in the post.
2-Copy the rules and add the blog award badge as an image
3-Share 7 facts about yourself to your fellow bloggers.
4-Then nominate up to 15 people.

After five and a half years of blogging, it was difficult to come up with seven facts about me that my readers don’t already know.  But I think I have — and they are truly random.

1.) I was a total scaredy-cat when I was growing up: afraid of everything.  I slept in the same room as my mom until the night before I was married. I was almost 23.

2.) Although I’ve always preferred cats, I did have a couple of dogs as pets when I was growing up. There was Trixie, a little brown dog, and a collie named (what else?) Lassie.

3.) I was seven years old when I had my hair cut for the first time.

4.) I was a waitress once — for three days.

5.) I’m not a movie fan.  I just don’t like getting taken away to another time and/or place.

6.) I had my ears pierced by a friend when I was 18.  She used an ice cube to numb my earlobes and then pierced them with a hat pin.  Ouch.  But I’ve never regretted having it done.

7.) I learned to drive in a blue Plymouth Valiant (I think maybe a 1961)  with a three-speed on the floor. I remember telling Mom that it reminded me of a blue frog.

As with the Blogger Recognition Award, the offer goes to any of my blogging friends to accept it if you wish.

Thank you, Sam and Pam, for nominating my blog for these awards.

Happy weekend, everyone, and Happy Birthday today to my youngest niece, Barb.

  1. Fun post; loved all the facts and stories. and Photos! Gosh you were so adorable as a little girl and young lady!! That car was sweet! MJ

  2. Ha ha! The car does look like a blue frog. Great pictures!

  3. Awesome awards and blog post. I remember absolutely loving your hair when we were growing up, especially when we were teens and you pulled it back at the nape of your neck with a clip. (Yes, I was jealous – in a good way – mine wouldn’t do that).

  4. Well, you’ve come a long way overcoming your fears and shyness!

  5. Oh how wonderful -I did not know any of these things about my friend! That sweet picture of you is one of my favorites, loved that old blue Valiant , and thank Pam for nominating you for your well deserved rewards. It cannot be easy sticking to a schedule of producing a blog complete with gorgeous pictures! Enjoy your weekend!

  6. Congratulations Dianna! I learned to drive in a blue, well more turquoise, VW Bug and it had a stick… so much fun. I still prefer to shift… 😀 Zoom!
    Fun post!

  7. Loved your responses to the questions for both awards……I absolutely HAVE to say that I agree that the Valiant does look like a blue frog (haha) but it started you out on your “world of wheels” adventure in life culminating in your road trips with MM as well as the racing world you both enjoy. See? The blue frog was a GOOD thing! Hope your niece enjoys her birthday – since you’re spending some of the day with her, I’m SURE she will.

  8. I .. think .. there might be one or two here I didn’t know …!
Congrats on the new awards !!

  9. Shirley Matthews Dunn

Congrats on your awards, Dianna! After all these years we have known each other I did not know your facts. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Learned a few more things about you! I always wanted to get my ears pierced, and there was a girl in my class who did them with the ice cube and needle of some sort. I can’t imagine a hat pin! Ouch! Happy birthday to Barb!

  11. Happy birthday to your niece! 🙂

  12. You were adorable. And, I absolutely love the Plymouth Valiant. It had character. 🙂

  13. So much fun to learn more about you, Dianna. And I always love those ‘vintage’ photos. It is funny that those awards don’t make the rounds much any more so congrats on getting two more to add to your trophy shelf! 🙂
