Saturday, the weather in our area was just….miserable. Rainy, windy, cold: you get the idea.
My friend, Donna, and I had plans to go to an (inside) estate sale about 30 minutes away. And, in spite of the weather, we decided to keep those plans.
When we arrived at the location for the sale, we saw about a dozen folks huddled together on a narrow front porch, taking shelter from the rain. They were waiting their turns to go in the house. Donna and I were given slips of paper with our numbers and we joined the huddlers. We were expecting a lengthy wait, but we were called inside in less than 15 minutes – much to our surprise.
We found room after room of interesting things for sale. I came away with a small square basket, a tin swan and a sweet little dish in the pattern “Strawberry Fields”.
It didn’t occur to me to take a picture of Donna’s find: a huge, punched tin lamp shade. I can’t wait to see what she does with it.
We talked, we laughed, we had lunch, we both had bad hair days after trekking around in the rain all morning.
And did I mention that we talked? And laughed?
~These Days Of Mine~
Sweet picture of your treasures Dianna! I wish I had gotten a picture of the beautifully preserved dairy house they had out back. I had never seen one -with the ice block as storage underneath. The former owners were prodigious collectors of Americana and primitives, and was a treat to walk though the beautiful house despite wet, stringy hair. With friends weather does not matter!
A little rain can’t dampen the spirits of two girls gone shopping! Glad you both found treasures.
I love the dish, Dianna…perfect for a scoop of strawberry ice cream.
I love it when days turn out so well even when the weather is gloomy. Time with friends has a way of making that happen. Love your finds!
It’s sounds like a great day, especially laughing and LUNCH!
Amazing what you can do when you’re with friends. Reminds me of the words to “Happy Trails”.
Laughter with friends is the BEST medicine for a rainy day! Precious finds.
Good finds! – & with friends, weather really doesn’t matter – been there, done that !
I’m glad y’all had somewhere to go inside- it was nasty that afternoon. But right at 5:00 the sun came out and it all got nice !
Bad weather is always easier to take when you’re with a good friend! And you found some cute items to boot. We awoke to snow on the ground yesterday morning but easier to handle by a morning spent in worship at church. 🙂
When you are having a fun time with a special friend weather is no problem. Love your treasures. Donna needs to post hers. Estate sales can be a lot of fun.
What a fun day and treasures too! Wish I was there. 🙂
It’s always a pleasure to share in your and Donna’s adventures. Sounds like you two had a great day despite the weather.
Sounds like a wonderful day!
