Settling For A Sunrise Shot

In a recent post, I mentioned that, during the winter months, the sun sets further to the south. Well, by the same token, it also rises further to the south. This means the sunrise pictures from our yard aren’t quite as pretty this time of year as they are in the spring and summer months.

But sunrise still usually finds me out in the yard – trying to get a good shot.

This was the sunrise on October 3.

Since it will be several months before we have sunrises over the water again, I’m willing to “settle” for shots such as this.

  1. Sunrise shots are always special!

  2. Sunrises are special no matter what time of year or what angle over the water – I like the “mood” of these shots!

  3. Dianna, they aren’t settling! They are stunning when I click to enlarge. The third shot is spectacular with that one huge beam of sunlight. Gorgeous!

  4. Very nice shots indeed. The changing seasons do affect the sunrises don’t they! And by the way, I have given you the 7×7 Award. Congrats!

  5. i love the dark silhouettes of your trees!

  6. Regardless if it’s over the water or over the trees, your sunrise shots are really lovely and joy to to see. Keep them coming. 🙂

  7. I never have to get up early to see the sunrise as long as you are my neighbor and friend. Thanks!

  8. They’re still awesome! And don’t worry: the “over the water” sunrises will be back before you know it!

  9. Still beautiful shots! I always love your photos, Dianna, and sunrise shots are always pretty no matter what time of the year it is.
Back to work for me…hope you’re having a good weekend!

  10. Something occurred to just this past week and that is: no matter what time of day the light is not very harsh for pictures – well, not like in other months. It’s as if everything is almost lit from underneath…least that is the case up here in Michigan. I will always love your water shots. 😉

How ever you have to get the shot always beautiful.

  12. It looks more like the colors of winter, but still beautiful!

  13. Love the silhouettes – I feel like I say that all the time! But I really do love that look of the black trees/grass/boats/docks etc. silhouetted against those great sky colors!!

  14. Isn’t it wonderful when you have to settle for still beautiful?
