Moonrise-Moonset

Did you happen to catch the full moon this week? It made for some interesting photos, although I missed the lunar eclipse.

On Sunday morning, while the sun was rising in the southeast, the moon was  setting in the northern sky.

In this picture from Sunday evening, the moon was rising beyond the marina, where some of the boats are decorated for Christmas:

And this was Tuesday night’s moonrise:

Although I still have plenty to learn, I’m glad I finally did a little studying on night-time photography. I think this could prove to be addictive.

Linking up to Weekend Reflections.

  1. I do love the reflections on the water from the decorated boats….but the moonrise/moonsets are a nice addition – sort of like a beautiful hanging Christmas ornament in the sky!!

  2. Oh, these are lovely! I can’t believe, in the first on, that the moon actually reflects on the water ~ not sure I’ve ever seen that with that much day light at the same time! And the night time shots are so festive. I tell you though, however we all might decorate, the moon, stars or sun steal the show every time!

  3. These are beautiful, Dianna. The moon seemed so big and so close last week I felt like I could reach out and touch it! How fun to have boats decorated for Christmas!

  22. You did a great job with night photography, and the reflections are sharp. I couldn’t help but notice the full moon, our backyard was well-lighted by it. I missed the eclipse, too.

  23. I love that first picture; something about seeing the moon with sunlight all around. You get to see the moon with no fear of monsters.

  24. Wow! This may inspire me to actually read the instructions that came with my camera!

  25. How neat that the boats are decorated. I love it.
