Barn Charm….Thanks, Marshall

My entry for Barn Charm this week is a photo taken a few years ago by my son, Marshall.

This little barn sits just off a busy highway, but it’s hidden behind a row of trees. It’s easy to miss if you aren’t specifically looking for it. The red “wagon” you see parked under the overhang is a peanut drying trailer. Peanuts are loaded into these when they’re harvested. If necessary, the trailers are placed under huge dryers that remove moisture from the peanuts before they’re sold.

This is another one of those barns that I’ve been passing by all my life, but never really noticed until Marshall shared this photo with me.

Thanks for today’s Barn Charm, Marshall. I think your photo looks like a painting.

  13. This was actually a “side-trip” during another trip a few years ago… What’s great about this one is that it looks like it’s out deep in the woods, but is RIGHT off of a very busy road… If you look 90 degrees to the right … there it is!! Thanks for featuring this one, and thanks for the comments!

I am growing to appreciate old barns since reading your blog. I wish I appreciated them more when I was growing up in Surry and Smithfield.
