Barn Charm In Orbit

A couple of weeks ago, on a Sunday morning, Motor Man suggested we go riding out in the country to look for barns. What a guy!

We hit the jackpot in a too-small-to-even-be-a-mapdot area of our county, known as Orbit. It’s too small to be called a town, or even a village. But, oh boy, does it have barns.

Although there were several barns scattered around the area, the ones I’m sharing today were all located in one “barnyard”. I can’t say for sure, but they don’t appear to be any longer in use.

This smaller barn was to the right of the big one. At least this one is being used to (partially) store a tractor.

I know this little shed isn’t technically a barn, but it’s so cute, I had to include it. It’s to the right of the “tractor” barn.

I love the little window at the top.

I’ll bet you didn’t know there were barns in Orbit……

  1. You always make me smile – and that is a nice way to start my day! Very nice collection of photos – and I too, love the little shed…it’s a “wannabe” a barn, maybe!? Have a great day!

  2. This must have been a large operation at one time. We just don’t make barns like that anymore. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Neat old buildings….they just have so much more “character” than the newer ones! love the bright blue tractor parked inside the worn red barn…..perfect color combo!

  4. wow, several well used barns. happy barns. love the wood they used. (:

  5. I guess the one that’s partially covering the tractor may still be in use, but the others do appear to be abandoned.

  6. Lots of barns in Orbit…and I’ll bet, at one time, there was at least one country store!!! If there was a cross-roads in VA country-side, there was always at least one little store!

  7. I’ll have to ask Rick what kind of tractor the blue one is. You’ve got me wondering.

  8. the last one is my absolute fave!

  9. I loved the little brick out building. I’ll bet you got a close up of that little window to see if that was a cat sitting up there! It would make a great perch! You know…I can paint that little barn and put a cat up there in the window!

  10. a great little barnyard! i like the red one w/ the blue tractor. 🙂

  11. What a wonderful collection of barns. I consider sheds barns, so you’re doing a fun job adding them too. It never ceases to amaze me, the funny names of little areas across the USA. Great group of choices for the charms. 🙂

  12. Motor Man…you are such a sweet guy!
