Friday’s Fences – Clarksville

Last week, during our trip to Clarksville, Motor Man and I took a “let’s-see-what’s-down-this-little-road” detour. And he spotted this fence.

At first, we thought the posts were made of cypress trees, but soon realized other types of wood were used, too.

It reminded me of the old saying: “Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without”.

(Dental update: although not the most pleasant two hours I’ve ever spent, everything went well. Thanks for all your thoughts and encouragement. And to Sundae for her help with the blog.)

  1. I love fences like this – you have to admire the use of whatever is at hand! We took a few of those trips this past week too – some were VERY interesting! I had a thought I would go back and try to catch up on everyone for the past week, then I came to my senses! Feels good to be back in touch though…

  2. A different kind of fence…definitely not a ‘modern’ one. I imagine at one time there were a lot of fences like that.

  3. ….it’s as if the fence is telling a story! Each post – chosen, cut, pounded. Someone did a lot of hard work. I’m glad your dental ‘adventure’ had a happy ending!

  4. The most wonderful, unique fence I’ve seen. Love it!

So glad it went well for you yesterday,

  5. Glad to read Sundae’s Mom is fine =^.^=

  6. Interesting fence! Some people truly do “make do” with terribly creative and interesting results! Glad your dental experience was tolerable…..nice that Sundae gave you some assistance with the blog – our cats are so helpful sometimes! 😀

  7. It always strikes me with country fences and barns the many thrifty ways country folk reuse and make do. Great trait. Glad your dental work went well. I’m a veteran of many dental wars and it’s always worth the pain and expense. A smile isn’t worth much without some teeth–unless you’re 6 months old! 🙂

  8. gotta love a good improvised fenceline. 🙂

  9. Such a unique example … & in some way – I’m not sure how – it just seems to ” go with ” Clarksville ! Glad the dental experience went ok !

  10. Very eclectic fence, lots of charm

  11. Lots of different wood in this fence…love the recycling. I like this fence, very artistic in its way!

  12. I like that fence! So rustic. Glad you’re appointment went well.

  13. What a neat fence…so full of character! Just using what’s available. I love that! Sorry you were having some dental surgery! Glad all went well.

  14. Reminds me of fences out west and I love that “Use it up” saying too.
Sorry, I’m pretty behind in my blog reading lately…glad your dental ordeal went well!

What a great fence!! I have never seem one like that but Chuck said they use to make them like all the time, due to not having any other material to use. Glad your dental experience is over and you are better. Take care dear friend.
