Remember my post from a couple of weeks ago about jonquils vs daffodils? If you missed it, click here.
I didn’t know at that time if the sprouts popping up in my yard were jonquils or daffodils. But I had done some research to learn the difference. I just had to wait til they bloomed to be sure.
And they’ve bloomed! Mine are daffodils.
One bloom per stem, the stems are rounded rather than slender, and the blooms are not very fragrant. But who cares about fragrance when we have spring blooms?
Speaking of spring blooms, aren’t pansies amazing?
These were planted last fall, they were covered in several inches of snow just a few weeks ago and for all practical purposes, looked to be dead and gone. But after a few warm days, they’ve come back to life. Maybe we could learn something from a pansy’s fortitude.
I can’t look at this sunny little bloom without smiling. “I’m just so happy to be here.”
So what’s blooming in your yard? Jonquils, daffodils, pansies?

Unfortunately, don’t have a yard. But the miniature pansies at the apt. are looking beautiful…and the redbud trees are blooming with beautiful pink flowers…the tulip magnolias have big buds just waiting to pop…now if it would just stay warm enough and dry enough to get out and enjoy them instead of looking at them from inside!!
Nothing humanly planted. But lots of spring beauties, small bluets, henbit, our ornamental pear tree, and our red bud. I’m hoping we get some grape hyacinths again as I saw some in a yard down the road a ways. 🙂
I can see from the window that ours are out now, too, so I’ll have to go do the research – see if we have daffodils or jon-a-quils ….! Thanks for another spring post!
I don’t have many daffodils; only a few jonquils. But I have LOTS of henbit and spring beauties. Later there will be tiny violets in the backyard, and hopfully the tulips I planted last fall will bloom.
Oh, that makes me so happy! I want all the snow to melt so my flowers will start to grow!!!
My daffodils, jonquils and snow bells are blooming as well as spring onions down the lane. Is it time to mow already?
Nothing even close to blooming here yet but thank you for sharing yours. They give me hope!
I too have the daffodils blooming in a pot. They’re so pretty!
Hope your day has been a blessed one.
Viola
I thought daffodils were jonquils. ?? Doesn’t matter — they are beautiful. 🙂
Oh I love all the color! My yard is a disgrace right now. Really, I’m ashamed. But you can’t help but smile when there are bright yellow flowers all around you!
Waaaaahh!!! We don’t have a bloomin’ thing bloomin’ in our yard and it snow flurried last night and went down to 30. I will just enjoy your daffies! It’s hard to not love pansies, their little faces make me smile 🙂
