Beach Barn Charm

This barn greets you as you cross the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge and enter the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

AND, there are horses! Since there’s nowhere to pull off the highway here, I have to take pictures as we’re crossing the bridge. That was easy to do last Saturday afternoon, since traffic was moving at a snail’s pace.

In fact, see that gray “pipe” at the bottom left corner of the picture? That’s the guardrail on the bridge.

This barn looks right at home at the beach with its pristine white boards and blue roof.

Linking up to Barn Charm.

  1. What a great barn! I haven’t been to the Outer Banks in a few years except by boat through the Sound – I will have to check this out if we get a chance to go down this summer! You did a great job with your “crawl-by” shooting!

  2. That does look like a very beachy barn….sand here and there and the pretty blue roof. Very well kept – and a VERY nice “welcome to the beach folks!” kind of barn and surroundings…..

  10. Your post came at a perfect time, Dianna. I am writing a book now where the climactic scene takes place on the Outer Banks during Hurricane Irene… Loved seeing these pictures. You live in such a gorgeous place!

  11. I can’t believe you got these on the move! I think you might be able to get to this barn if you make that first right. It accesses the “Promenade” and a big parking lot. Check it out next time because it seems you can get JR to pull over anywhere! I’m lucky if David pulls over to let me go potty!

  12. Cute barn – love how it fits in with its surroundings!

  21. Nice beach barn! Lucky horses too. 🙂

  22. That’s a pretty barn! You did great only capturing a small bit of railing. I’d have mirror and window frame, etc…!

  23. I’ve never noticed that barn either, but I, too, will look for it next time we go to Duck. Would like to go for a day this fall. It’s only an hour and a half for us. Love to stop at the Cotton Gin,

  25. What a pretty barn! Not sure I would typically call a barn “pretty.” Maybe picturesque, or rustic. But this one is really pretty! ~ Sheila
