Random Five Friday

It’s Friday, again, after a fairly quiet week around here. Let’s see if I can come up with five randoms…

1.) Motor Man and I spent a lot of time Wednesday out on “the point” in our yard. We got up at 5:30 and watched the Blood Moon eclipse (I didn’t get a good picture.).  That evening, we watched as the International Space Station whizzed by. Did you know you can sign up for email notifications as to when the ISS will be visible in your area? My friend, Donna, clued me in about it quite awhile ago, and we’ve seen it several times, including the past three nights. It’s really amazing to watch it soar across the sky.

2.) Later Wednesday evening, I did manage to get this picture of the moon rise. As I noted on my Facebook page, I’m always reminded of the CCR song Bad Moon Rising. They sure don’t write ’em like they used to.

3.) My friend, Bev, and I went beachcombing earlier this week.  She found a sweet shard of frosted cobalt blue. Was I jealous? Nah. Well, maybe a little.  We’re really going to miss our “therapy” when winter arrives. A work boat rumbled just offshore this week during our visit.

4.) Would you be brave enough to plan an outdoor wedding on the beach in October? Saturday, when we were on the Outer Banks, we happened upon a wedding. It appears that the ceremony had just ended.  They had a picture perfect weather day. “Happy is the bride the sun shines on.”

5.) Finally, regarding the “hidden something” in the picture I posted Monday of me at the Sea Glass Festival: I was referring to the name of the booth in the picture: “Just Beachy Keen”. It seemed appropriate to stand there, since our last name is Keen, a fact some of you may not know.  A few of you picked up on that, and several of you mentioned the butterfly pin on my scarf. It isn’t sea glass; just a little scarf clip I picked up quite some time ago, and it just happened to perfectly match the scarf Pam gave me.

  1. Oooo that sea glass booth looks like a little treasure trove. Mummy loves those type of places!

  2. I loved your moon picture ~ very mystical looking 🙂
No, I wouldn’t be brave enough to plan an outdoor wedding-ever – but it does look like they had a perfect day.
Neat tie in of your name to the booth, I noticed the pin but not that! Happy Friday! MJ

  3. The picture of the moon over the water is absolutely wonderful. You live at one of the most picturesque spots in the world. 🙂

  4. Great randomness today!!! I am going to have to go listen to CCR now!! Love those “oldies” that really aren’t oldies, right? My randomness is that I went to a mixed media painting class with a blogger friend last night and came away with a cute fall picture as a result!

  5. Love the red moon you captured. What an amazing shot!

  6. You’re lucky the sky is dark enough to see the ISS soar over. There’s so much reflected light in the sky here that seeing stars is just a memory. Loved the “moon shot”!.

  7. Love the work boat and moon shot! I didn’t know about International Space Station notifications. We would have to leave the house because we are “socked in” by trees.

  8. I love your randomness. I’ve come to the conclusion that as you ‘look’ for things to share with us, you are experiencing life more. You also lead us to notice around ourselves more too. Gotta try the ISS spotting.

  9. Nice batch of randomness this week Dianna…..your “randoms” are always interesting to me!

  10. Well, I think your ‘quiet’ week still produced some interesting photos. I didn’t get a really good shot of the Blood Moon either but I still posted mine (there was too much cloud cover here). I did know about the ISS space station thing, but I keep forgetting to look that up. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂

  11. i don’t know if i’d be daring enough to plan an outdoor wedding – period. 🙂

  12. It is tough to get a good moon shot — well done !
I did see the space station that night, but missed it last evening :/
The workboat pic looks like a painting just waiting for a canvas !

  13. Your randoms make my weeks seem dull.

Yet another great R5F! The picture of the boat is amazing! No I do not think if would want a outdoor wedding, enough things can happen in a indoor wedding. There is just something about a moon over water, beautiful.

  15. I saw art with the name Beachy Keen in Savannah. I almost took a pic to share, as it made me think of you. Somehow, I missed that in the photo on your post.
