Biker Dudes And AAA

Saturday afternoon, Motor Man and I attended the 10th anniversary celebration for Currituck Barbecue. That’s the restaurant whose owner purchased and moved the Rosenwald school that I wrote about in last Wednesday’s post.

While there, we officially met the owner, Paul, and wished him well with the restoration of the school house.

Free food (barbecue, catfish and fixings) was part of the celebration under the pavilion, but Motor Man and I had lunch in the restaurant so we could order our chicken chunks.

It just happens that this past weekend was Bike Week at the Outer Banks, and a group of bikers en route to the beach was also having lunch at the restaurant. Motor Man and I had chosen seats in a small area off to the side of the main dining room, and Motor Man was sitting in the corner. As the bikers were leaving, one of them smiled at me and said: “Well, how are you today, young lady?”.   I was waiting for him to step around the corner and spot Motor Man, but he never did. He was just being mannerly, I’m sure. But, yes,  it gave Motor Man some material to work with, and he has teased me ever since about nearly getting “picked up” by a biker.

We spent some time under the pavilion, looking at photos of the Rosenwald school project, and as we were leaving,  Motor Man realized that he’d locked the keys in our vehicle.

 Thankfully, we have AAA.

When the young man arrived and started working,  it took him less than five minutes to unlock our doors.

And for Motor Man to retrieve his keys.

Chicken chunks, biker dudes and AAA – all in a Saturday afternoon.

  1. The schoolhouse restoration should be a lot of fun to watch as it progresses……….nice that you met the owner and some bikers too. Too bad about the keys (oopsie) but these things happen on a sunny day when there are other distractions around!

  2. That was so wonderful you went to the 10th anniversary of Currituck Barbcue! I am sure the movement of the schoolhouse was determined to be before the celebration so that could be included. Did you get any tataoo initiations when traveling with your new motorcycle friends-ha! I know Motor Man teased you all day, but you sure have had experience with teasing so it was all good. Beautiful weather and good fun, sounds like fun to me!

  3. I always thought you had a inner biker chick that was dying to come out, Dianna. 🙂
Yay for AAA! They’re always there when you need them.

  4. Glad you had a happy ending and it’s always nice to meet a “flirt”!

  5. Oh the frustration of being locked out of your vehicle! We haven’t had that happen for quite awhile, thankful for Assist lock and unlock. The school house restoration is going to be awesome! Bikers were everywhere over the weekend, it must be summer!

  6. Whew, what a day you had! Nothing worse than that sinking feeling of having locked your keys in the car. Thank goodness for the Triple A rescue guy. 🙂

  7. YAY for AAA! Events were just made for blog material – so LOVED it! Can’t wait to try the Barbecue place. …And biker days – that brings back memories!

  8. As you always say – you never know where you’ll end up, but it’s always an adventure!
Glad you had a comfortable place to wait for AAA !
& I can see Motor Man running with that material for a minute !

We southern ladies never turn down a nice comment, no matter what. There was a good article in our VA Pilot about the school house. I am looking forward to keeping up with it. AAA is truly a blessing, we have had it for a long time. You know JR has to tease you about the bikers, it would not be him if he didn’t.

  10. Aw what a nice fellow. The compliment is a great topper to a fun eventful day.
MM forgetting his keys. Sounds like you could do a bit of teasing to him. lol
We’ve been wanting some catfish and fixings, but the restaurants around here don’t serve up the good old down home food anymore. I guess that’s progress for you.

  11. I’m sure MM was distracted by the young lady on his arm and forgot the keys.

Waiting for your comment!
