When I saw this prompt on Mama Kat’s list this week, I knew it would be my choice:
3.) A blog post inspired by the words: setting sun
The setting sun is a big deal around our house. (Sometimes the sunrise is, too, but if we’re at home in the evening, we’re checking the sky to see what the sunset holds in store. And, even if we aren’t home and aren’t in a location to get a good picture, we still enjoy a pretty sunset.)
I don’t recall ever paying much attention to sunrises and sunsets until Motor Man came into my life. But I’ve more than made up for that in the past sixteen years.
Most evenings, Bride and/or Groom Swan are here to enjoy the setting sun with me.
I’ve found that clouds always add interest to a sunset.
As does smooth-as-glass water.
And a photogenic, willing model is always a plus.
Once I began dabbling in this hobby of photography, I learned about the golden hour. It can occur at sunrise or sunset, and the lighting is amazing.
I may have shared this quote before. It was on a poster at the convalescent center when my mom was a patient there many years ago, and it’s one that I’ve always remembered. I’m sorry that I’m not able to determine the author.

Always love your sunrise/sunset pictures with or without your semi-resident swans.
It feels and looks like a whole new world by the light of the setting sun (and also by the rising sun.) Your photos and post are a wonderful way to start the day. Bride and Groom Swans have an enchantment all their own. 🙂
I enjoyed seeing these beautiful pictures. God sure does great work, doesn’t He? I seem to notice the sunrises more than sunsets, simply because I’m usually on my way to work as the sun comes up.
That smooth-as-glass water just enhances the already gorgeous sunset.

Well, you know how I love sunset photos, so of course I think these are beautiful. But as soon as I saw your photos this morning, I could ‘hear’ the bugle playing Taps and the lyrics came to mind. ♪ ♫ “Day is done, gone the sun, from the lakes, from the hills, from the sky. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.” ♫ ♪ There’s something special about the sun setting or rising. Another day begun and ended.

Wonderful photos Dianna, and I see what you mean by the golden hour. Here we oooh and ahh over the sunrises over the mountains. Our sunsets are more blocked by a heavy forest.
