Boaters (And Boats) Beware

March winds came early to our area this year.  The body of water by our home is  The Pagan River. Last Friday, it was an angry little river.

Since The Pagan is somewhat protected, it’s normally relatively calm. Like this.

Not last Friday.

The boats at the marina in front of our house rocked with the rhythm of the waves. When it’s this windy, the clang of the lines on the sailboat masts is an almost constant sound.

Remember this photo from one of last week’s posts?

This is the exact same spot during Friday’s heavy winds.

It isn’t often we have seaspray on the shores of the Pagan.

  1. Diana, I love your black swan. So very cool 🙂

  2. It looks like you were on the ocean. Great pictures.

  3. What a lovely area — even when it’s windy!

I agree with Kathie — Love the swan! So beautiful. 🙂

  4. Good thing Groom Swan wasn’t in that same spot Fri!

  5. I love to sleep with the windows open and hear the water lapping on the shore when it’s windy! I love that everyday it looks and sounds different. I love that I have great neighbors that share it and love it too!

  6. Even the little Pagan (that we always called a creek when I was growing up!) was angry !!

  7. Rough water scares me; sometimes the creeks get out of their banks and flood our hay fields. That’s the closest I want to be to rushing water. lol Thanks for encouraging me to play the piano again.

  8. WOW! Rough water to make you appreciate the calmness later…

  9. What a fabulous place you have ! So picturesque!

  10. Hi Dianna,
Thanks for your recent visits & sweet comments.
Your header photo is so pretty. I assume that is the same river when it is less angry. It looks lovely and the black swan is amazing. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one, but my husband told me he has seen them in England.

  11. Yes, Kim, my header is the same little river. It’s ever-changing!

  12. Hi Dianna,
Thank you for your visiting my blog and leaving such lovely comments. I love your beautiful photography on this blog. That river sure does look rough.
