As I often do on Thursdays, today I’m participating in Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop. This is the prompt I chose this week:
2.) Describe what summer is like at your house.
My summer days usually begin by catching the sunrise.
Then it’s putting the final touches on the day’s blog post, answering e-mails, then going for my morning walk (weather permitting).
I’ve become very fond of flowers. A friend, who shall remain nameless (okay, it’s Pam, Sammy’s mom at One Spoiled Cat) calls it an addiction. Of course, this fondness means lots of time spent outdoors: planting, water, pruning and just enjoying.
Many Saturday nights during the summer find us at our local short-track, Langley Speedway, for stock car racing. (We have trackside parking in turn three.)
Our summer always includes a couple of hydroplane races.
And then, there’s this horsepower – on the OBX.
But there’s nothing quite like ending the day with a sunset at home, especially if these two are visiting.
Care to share what summer’s like at your house?

Oh what a grand summer view you have….and lots of other “addictions” (ha) other than flowers too! Racing, horses, and loving life….nothing wrong with that!
Pam
Your summer days always sound perfect! And so often, we get to share them through your photos.
Sounds and looks like a wonderful way to spend the summer day and every day of the year. Thanks for sharing these enjoyable moments and views with us. 🙂
How lovely! It sounds like you’ll have a fabulous summer!
Our summer days are full of ranch work. From the time the sun comes up till it goes down and for a couple more days anyway, that means 9:30pm. We love it as we are dyed in the wool outdoor people anyway and really don’t know any better. 😉
We’ve always been “winter loving people” but even more so these past years when it is our true down time to just relax. Prime example: We’ve been known to sit on the deck in the snow on many, many occasions because we rarely, if ever, get to any other time. We love it, especially if the Northern Lights are doing their thing!
Love the hydro-plane race shot! I’ve gotten to see them race out on Lake Washington (I think that was the place) in the state of Washington a few times…just awesome!

Your summer looks and sounds perfect! Summer at our house is keeping the Tiny Ten mowed, grilling, sitting under the Oaks in the afternoon and spending time with family and friends AND eating ice cream!
Your lilies are just gorgeous! I think I’ll spend as much time out in the garden today as possible. “Summertime…..and the livin’ is eeeeasy…”
Beautiful photos! The one of the horse on the beach is my favorite. Summer around here has much less water, but a whole lot of waving wheat. Harvest starts this week!
I too LOVE flowers, but I can’t grow anything. I have a serious black thumb. What a grand view you have too. This summer? We’ll be spending much time at the pool and library,
A beautiful pictorial walk through a summer day! Visiting from mama’s!
Oh man I seriously want to come visit you know! What an awesome summer you have there! 🙂
you know how to fill your days with things you love. and flowers? there are much worse addictions, i’d say. 🙂
Oh my, I need to come start and end my day with your view instead of the tornado left behind by my 3 year old & 1 1/2 year old boys! Glorious, and I love that you know what you like and surround yourself with it. Beautiful!

A great, well-rounded post ! Those are the Asiatic Lillies ??
Love the horse pic 😉
Your summer is full of wonderful things. Enjoy. Love all the pictures.
So jealous of your green thumb…I don’t have one! What a beautiful place to spend summer. I’m a native Californian living in Texas…so I grew up a total weather wimp and then moved to a place where summer feels like you were sent straight to hell. 🙂 Loved your post…sounds like a great place to live! (Stopping by from Mama Kat’s!)
Now I know what a beautiful summer is supposed to look like! Love your sunrises and sunsets and the horses and the flowers. You have it all!
I love summer sunrises–but miss many of them since I don’t generally get up early enough to see them except as I roll over for another half hour’s sleep. 🙂
Looks like a perfect day.
I want to come live with you 🙂 xx00xx
