Many several years ago, I accidentally went shopping (for one item) on the day after Thanksgiving. (It wasn’t even called Black Friday then, as I recall.) I stopped at Sears to buy a Fisher Price train to travel along the rail of Marshall’s crib.
I promised myself then that the day after Thanksgiving would never again be a shopping day for me.
Allow me to share how Motor Man and I spent our Friday morning last week.
Look! No crowds:
No doorbuster sale signs.
The food court:
No hurrying or scurrying for bargains here:
And no traffic jams in the parking lot:
Continuing our stress-free day, on the way home, we stopped for a visit with sweet Aggie.
I saw this cartoon on Facebook; my apologies to any readers who may actually enjoy the frenzy of shopping on Black Friday.
~These Days Of Mine~
That’s definitely a MUCH nicer way to spend Black Friday !!

It was MANY years ago when I last shopped on Black Friday. There were so many people in the mall, we finally went outside and walked around the outside of the mall to get back to the car!!
My sentiments exactly!! Beautiful post.
It’s so nice to breathe.
Haha.. the food court horse style! That was a wonderful way to spend Black Friday Dianna. As you know, no Black Friday shopping for us. We stayed away from shopping the whole Thanksgiving weekend. We did have a CHEESEBURGER at Longhorn on Sunday.. yay! Aggie was a lucky girl to get a visit from you!
AMEN!!! Love the last cartoon – it says it all.
Great saying. Looks like it was not Black Friday for you.
Now THAT’S a perfect way to spend Black Friday…wait, ‘Happy Friday’ for you. 🙂
Lucky sweet Aggie! And what a wonderful way to spend Black Friday – away from the maddening crowd.
Ah…the perfect day! I knew you were a smart lady, Dianna. 🙂
I couldn’t agree more, Dianna. We didn’t darken the door of a single store on general principle. LOVE the cartoon which expresses my point of view exactly. And gorgeous photographs, as usual.
That’s my kinda’ traffic !
I remember I wound up at Coliseum Mall on Christmas Eve night a few years back… something I vowed to never do again !
Something to be truly thankful for. And it was free.
Wise words and beautiful pictures. Thank you!
Black Friday is not a friend of mine either. I have to agree with Marshall about Christmas Eve, I did that one year and one year only!
What a wonderful way to spend Black Friday! I love the cartoon. Sometimes the shopping frenzy and consumer culture seem over the top.
That’s a Black Friday to look forward to!
